Charity Tea Dance being held at the Cumbria Ballroom at Gatra Farm, Asby on Saturday 29th March 2pm - 4.30pm on behalf of the Gaucher Association.
💃🕺
Why the Gaucher Association? Gill’s son Jon was diagnosed with a rare degenerative, metabolic disorder when he was only five years old. His life prospects were not good with the likelihood that he would be confined to a wheelchair with life expectancy unlikely to extend beyond his teenage years. There is no cure for this condition but with the support of the Gaucher Association a revolutionary enzyme replacement therapy, developed in America, was brought to the UK. Jon was one of the first patients to benefit from this discovery. Throughout his childhood, Gill administered Jon with frequent enzyme infusions and he began to thrive. Today, although still on enzyme replacement therapy, Jon is the deputy head of a comprehensive school in Tower Hamlets and in April he will be running the London marathon on behalf of the Gaucher Association. All proceeds raised at the Tea Dance at the end of March will be donated to the Gauchers Association (Charity Number 1095657) who continue to promote awareness, research and support to those affected by this rare genetic recessive disease. The Gatra Ballroom is available through the largess of Helen and Brian, local businesses have generously donated raffle prises and a wonderful selection of inspirational music will be provided and played by Embleton’s warm hearted Edna Hind. Please come along and support this charity which is a cause very close to Gill and Greg’s hearts. Gill and Greg here are a couple of photos of Me and my Son, but I thought you may appreciate the logo over the stall
